Happy New Year and a Calendar Makeover

I have been too busy with this cute little one to blog lately.

I have enjoyed watching him do this and this and this

but, alas, He got into his suitcase and flew home.

So, on to the new year now.

I have my new calendar and am ready for the new year. My favorite calendar is a month on two-pages variety.  It opens flat on my desk and the best part about it is that it comes from the Dollar Store! (Horray for Dollar stores!)

When I bought it, it was pretty generic and honestly, it was ugly!  So, I took off the black plastic cover

then adhered some pretty scrapbook paper to the front and back and voila!  Now it is a nice looking calendar to work with every day. ( I need to stamp the year on the front I guess.)

The first thing I did was to put in everyone's birthdays.  I have a little cupcake stamp to mark these special days.  Then I colored the "frosting" for each person in that person's favorite color.  Now I am ready...Let the new year begin!
What is your favorite kind of calendar and why?

I have missed you!
You gave me a great idea for the calendar planner I take to all our YSA meetings. I enjoy a new calendar each year from Seagull Book for a wooden calendar holder I made years ago. I have to buy a calendar to fit it and this years is one by Liz Lemen Swindle of the Prophet Joseph Smith.
I am glad you have been loving your baby! We have another little guy due the middle of next month!
Gingerly,

I don't know how you pulled yourself away from your little visitor!
I'm sorry to say I just use the free wall calendar and weekly planner we get at the office. I'm a chronic doodler and scribbler though so it won't matter if I mess it up.
Yours is very pretty! Wishing you all the best in the new year!

Such a litle cutie. I am constantly amazed at how bloggers can create such beauty with basic items. May I ask who makes that cute little stamp? I have stamps, did a lot more years ago, now I use them on envelopes to my dear friends who do not have computers (for shame) I would love to add that cupcake stamp to my collection. As for calendars, Susan Branch in kitchen, on both my home work desk and my office work desk (I work part of the week at home, part in the office) I have different ones with daily uplifting, happy, positive sayings.
Have a great day.

Great idea! I need to get myself a planner still. I may have to head to the dollar store I guess.
I have another blog. Same idea as Ashley's. It's here:

What a precious baby you got to play with over the holidays. It is sad when they have to leave.

Cal is coming the end of this week and I get to spend another week with him and Erin and Patrick. I can't wait.

I usually get a calendar from the dollar store too. Any kid is ok with me.
Have a happy new year. Hugs, Lura

I have a pocket calender that I keep in my purse. Since I am often on the road when receiving business calls I need to be able to have a planner on hand. I lost one once and boy was THAT a disaster. :)

I would love for you to use the rooster embroidery photos in your post. I'll let my sister-in-law know too, she'll be thrilled.

Please keep me posted on how it's going with your new embroidery machine too. I'm planning to get one but I don't know a single thing about them to help me choose the right one.
