Camera-Captured Summertime Activities

Camera-Captured Summertime Activities
Sometimes we wonder where our time has gone, especially this summer. It is a good thing that we can record events with our camera so that we can answer that for ourselves. Here are some events I captured with family and friends--fun times and times for memories.1. My sweet aunt, Gladys (89), and I had a beautiful drive north to my sister, Kaye's, home. We helped her celebrate her birthday by taking her to lunch at a lovely restaurant up one of the canyons near her home. (I won't tell how old she is, only that she looks 25!).
This is the birthday girl complete with a darling apron and birthday crown. She is in her livingroom that is filled with all things memorable and fun including the family portrait mantle with it's inscription "Be Warm Inside and Out", two loveseats that she recovered from our mom's home, tea cup collections, hand stitched pillows, decoupaged Girl's Time (on the easel) and other fun and quirky things. Everything has a story. It is always a treat to go there to see what she has done lately. She is a very talented and fun sister.
Barbara and I took a little trip to an old Inn where my husband and I spent our honeymoon many years ago and enjoyed the gardens there. We took the plunge and sat in the natural mineral springs that are on the property. Something that neither one of us had done before. Doesn't she look amazing! She is an inspiration to me of perseverance and patience having stuck with her diet since last November!
I pressed her into service to redecorate the guest room while she was staying in it. So it went from French Country to Cottage Beachy in the course of one week. Of course, we found time to make some crafts before she went home too. She is making a Danger cosmetic bag out of danger tape and duct tape.
The craft room found cute Maddy making a banner for her bedroom back home too.
It is so nice to have spent time with those you love. I hope your summer is filled with the people you enjoy being with too.

Some Summer Memories

Summertime, Summertime, Sum,Sum Summertime.

I can't believe it is August already. Where has the summer gone? Only another month to enjoy the summer festivities and finish summer chores. (I am still trying to figure out simple things like how my sprinklers work or what to do when they don't work--which is more like it. And trying to keep my grass and plants from frying in the heat). But I have enjoyed having friends visit and family come, too, on their way to Chicago on their vacation.
What is nicer than a granddaughter in your house to remind you to listen to the words of the new music that she plays on your car radio as your driving her to the craft store for supplies to make a banner for her bedroom? What about a 5 year old who answers all the questions of Scattergories with his new favorite person "Harry Potter"? Or playing pitcher for the 11 year old as he practices hitting the ball outside the boundaries of your back wall.? Or frosting cupcakes with an 8 year old for his brother's birthday party? Or making pencil cases out of duct tape with my 15 year old grandson? Or holding and loving my newest grandson? These are some of my memories of this summer.
I hope your summer is filling up with good memories as well!

Friend Making Monday

Today is Friend Makin' Monday courtesy of our hostess Kasey at All That is Good
Our task today is to tell 10 reasons why I love Summer. This one is easy for me because:
1. I love to be warm. It is almost certain that the weather will cooperate in summer to keep us nice and warm. I love that I can put on one layer of clothes and be comfortable.
2. I love to see the beauty of nature in its wonderous glory--the pinks, and the yellows, and the corals and reds and the vibrant greens.
3. I love sunglasses, sandals, t-shirts, and short pants.
4. I love to go out in the morning and walk the neighborhood and to see which flowers are blooming and how the lawns are nicely mowed and the trees all green.
5. I love to hear children laughing in the swimming pool.
6. I love picnic foods. Also, it is fun to switch over to summer foods--bbq's, salads, ice cream.
7. I love how the nights here are warm, as well as the daytime.
8. I love summer night concerts in the park and the sound of crickets at night, fireflies and frogs croaking.
9. I love to work in the yard and watch my plants grow as I baby them with water and fertilizer.
10. I love the smell of newly mowed grass.
I could go on and on, and wish to list 20, but I won't today.
I love summer!
I hope you do too. To learn more about other summer 10's click here.
